My Purpose

About Myself

My name is Quinn Gardiner and I discovered that I had dyslexia my senior year of High School. Although I was not aware that I had dyslexia, it has had a strong impact on me for my entire life.  It has helped me form a very strong work ethic throughout the years because it took me significantly longer to complete assignments. Dyslexia has given me the confidence to tell myself that I can do all things that I put my mind to.  It is important to share my experiences with others in order to change the stigma often associated with people who have dyslexia.

Why I Care:

  • I want to raise awareness for those who struggle with the condition. By sharing my experiences with others I hope to inspire people and show them that having dyslexia is a gift, not a handicap.

  • If a kid is told his entire life that he is stupid because he learns differently, he will start to believe it. I want to provide resources to get people the help they need. If they get necessary accommodations it will make their school and future experiences more positive.

  • Advocating for early testing is important so that people do not find out they have a learning difference too late. If they can get accommodations early on it will greatly benefit them in the long run.

“Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”

-Albert Einstein
